RULES & REGULATIONS

⦿ READ AND FOLLOW ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS… “Ignorance of rules excuses no one”– is a legal principle holding that a person who is unaware of a law or rule may not escape penalty for violating or not doing that law or rule merely because because he/she was unaware of its content.
⦿ This competition is open to all licensed Barbers. You must upload your license and state issued ID during the registration process.
⦿ This competition does not limit or restrict by race, gender, creed color or nationality.
⦿ Only ages 18 and older are allowed to compete and be models.
⦿ Competitor has to make sure that the model signs and submits all paperwork and waivers to participate or risk disqualification.

MODELS: You MUST provide two forms of ID to registration for this competition to show proof of your age and a photograph (for example, a birth certificate and driver’s license or a birth certificate and a passport or a birth certificate and a school ID card with your name on it). Because age can be deceiving, your model must prove their age. Proof that the model is at least 18 years of age. Without it, the model cannot be used.
COMPETITOR: Must upload active proof of licensure in your state of residence.

PLEASE NOTE: Inspecting your work before completion, to correct symmetry, is vital. Design Lines will have NO EFFECT if not executed well. And choosing the right model is critical to the end result. Please consider the skin of the head and face as a canvas for your artistic work.

  2. This is a total look men’s haircut and style competition. You are expected to create a complete hair cut and head-to-toe fashion look (the attire must compliment the hairstyle). You will be judged on the entire presentation. The There is an “OPEN” theme to this competition.
  3. If any designs are to be cut into the hair, they must be done completely during the 30 minutes allotted for the competition using equipment from the sponsor of the competition.
  4. BE ON TIME: You Must be at the Check-In desk in the CHQ at the appointed time or risk point deduction and/or disqualification. Please be aware that parking will not be easy. Also, Hotel accommodations are going fast as this is a VERY busy weekend. Traveling by Car is going to be hectic. PLEASE make time allowances to be on time because we DO NOT allow late participants nor do we give refunds for late arrivals or for any reason other than competition cancellation by Bronner Bros. Late arrivals will not be allowed to enter the competition or be allowed to go on stage after the competition has started. You have been informed.
  5. Due to the Insurance rules that govern our exhibit floor, no children under the age of 12 will be allowed to enter the show floor under any circumstances. All competition models must be 18 or older.
  6. What to Bring to Registration for Model and Stylist: You MUST bring two forms of ID to registration that day to show proof of your age and a photograph (for example, a birth certificate and driver’s license or a birth certificate and a passport or a birth certificate and a school ID card with your name on it). Proof that the model is at least 18 years of age. If the age of the model is questioned and proper ID is not available, the model cannot be used.
    1. Your License or proof online of your active status.
    2. The QR codes sent to you via email or Text with your proof of purchases for:
      1. Admissions (1 day pass, 3 day/2 night pass, or VIP pass)
      2. Competition fee payment of $125.
  7. The Competitor is responsible for securing their travel and hotel accommodations to participate in this competition.
  8. Competitors must also purchase a 3 day registration (if staying the entire weekend) or a 1 day registration (if only participating on the day of the competition.) Your model is allowed free entry on the day of the competition ONLY from 10am until 5pm.
  9. Current Bronner Brothers employees, platform artists, and educators cannot compete in this competition. A minimum of 2 year of non-association with the company is required to qualify.
  10. The competitor is responsible for securing their travel and hotel accommodations with no expectations of Bronner Bros or their affiliates providing refunds.
  11. The competition is open to licensed Barbers only. (Male and Female Barbers)
  12. ALL JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
  13. Children under 12 are NOT allowed on the Exhibit floor, back stage or in the area for this competition. Click here for our DAYCARE options.
  14. ALL COMPETITORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL BELONGINGS!! Bronner Brothers is not responsible for theft or lost items left on the stage after the competition. NO EXCEPTIONS! Please see the specified site for Lost and Found in the Convention Center.
  15. All models are welcomed to participate. All races, nationalities, creeds, and colors will ignite the multicultural look of the industry. Competitors must find and provide their own model.
  16. No additional persons are allowed in the prep room. Only Model and Competitor will be allowed in the Prep room during the briefing and pre-judging time. There will be an area around Main Stage for viewing during the competition.
  17. Models must be dressed in an appropriate attire to reflect the mood of the hair creation. Please REPORT DRESSED. No dressing room will be provided.
  18. All coloring and chemical processes MUST be completed prior to checking in for the competition.
  19. No Wigs or man units are allowed!
  20. No grotesque – No horror – No Monsters!
  21. There may be heavy traffic or major detours near the  Convention Center.  Please use your time wisely and plan your route to the facility ahead of time.
  22. All cut hair MUST be left on the floor.
  23. You, (the Barber), MUST stay at your station for the duration of the competition or until you are instructed to pack up and return backstage. (For judges inspection)
  24. Your Model may or may not be asked to walk the floor.
  25. No clipper or razor pre-work may be done on the model before the competition. [This means: If your model is a regular client and gets his/her hair cut weekly, he/she has to have at least 2 weeks of visible stubble at the hairline, temple area, beard and side burn areas. All cutting, including the basic haircut, MUST be done on stage. A minimum of 1/2 inch of hair must be visible over the model’s entire head. The starting point of the head is to be a “Hairy Canvas”.] (Pre-judging will be performed and points will be deducted for infractions to the rules).
  26. Entrants and models must remain until the judges’ decisions are announced.
  27. All competitors will receive a gift from ANDIS as a part of their competition kit. The tool is yours to keep following the competition. Tool package valued at over $175.00. Competitors are allowed to use ONLY the electrical cutting equipment provided by ANDIS. Competitors can adjust their blades of the clippers provided if they are able to perform this task in the given set-up time. There will not be any extra time given for blade adjustments, nor will the start of the competition be delayed for this reason.
  28. The clipper(s) provided on stage MUST be used to create their competition entry.  ONLY products by the sponsorship company can be used to create the entry look on the competition stage.
  29. THE USE OF STRAIGHT EDGE RAZORS AND/OR RAZOR BLADES IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. If found to be using these items, significant Points will be deducted. Blood found on the models head or face will be HIGHLY penalized.
  30. No PRE CUTTING of the head or hair is allowed in any way prior to competition. Use code SAVE10 Now through May 31, 2023 during the Early Bird Special.
  31. Competitors are required to ONLY use the tools provided by ANDIS. Competitors using electric cutting tools other than those provided on stage will be disqualified. No other manufacturer’s clippers or personal clippers will be allowed on the competition stage. If other equipment is discovered during the competition, your scores will be disqualified. (Explanation: The products provided by ANDIS are the premier product that they are marketing for this Show. The company wishes to showcase the abilities of these tools through your excellent expertise on Main Stage as a Marketing promotion.)
  32. Competitors are permitted to bring and use combs, brushes, liquid styling tools, and color pencils of their choosing (including color sprays and hair fibers) to create their finished look during the competition.
  33. There is a limit of 30 competitors for this competition.
  34. Competitors are required to remove at least 1/2 inch of hair off the entire head during the competition as to satisfy the requirement of executing a FULL Barbering HAIRCUT onstage during the competition time frame. JUDGES MAY VIEW HAIR ON THE FLOOR.  Competitors are required to cut 1/2 inch of hair from the models entire head but not to a completely bald head. The model must be judged with a hair cut leaving hair on the head with beard and mustache cut (when applicable).
  35. Contestants will be judged on the following: Technical execution of styles Originality, Suitability and head contour, and New Ideas.
  36. All Participants (contestants and models) must sign a model release form. Failure to complete this form before arriving downtown WILL significantly delay your check-in process as you WILL NOT be allowed entry into the competition headquarters until these forms are received electronically.
  37. AFTER WINNING THE COMPETITION, the contestant agrees to abide by the final decision of the judges. All winners must report to the Competition Headquarters to complete all paperwork to receive payment of awards and prizes. If this paperwork is incomplete, you may significantly delay or in some cases forfeit your payment in full if you place or win the competition.
  38. Bronner Brothers and the Sponsors reserve the right to cancel the competition if a minimum number of competitors is not met. This competition requires 15 competitors in order for the competition to take place.

FYI: In past Beauty Shows, competitors that chose to disregard any rule had significant point reduction and severely decreased their opportunity to win the competition.

FYI: Many competitions have very close scores. Sometimes, the final judges decisions have been based on the amount of hair that is left on the floor and if the lengths and amounts are within the rules and regulations governed for the competition.
